Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Underground Superintendent / Mine Captain for an expatriate role at a cut-and-fill precious metal mine in North Africa. This mine uses a combination of cemented rockfill and long hole stopping methods . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underground mining, with expertise in these mining techniques. In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing underground operations, ensuring safety, and optimizing production.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Management: Supervise and manage all underground mining activities to ensure safety, productivity, and efficiency.
• Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance on cut-and-fill mining, cemented rockfill, and long hole stoping methods to optimize production.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with local and international regulations.
• Team Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor a diverse team of mining professionals, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Planning & Coordination: Collaborate with the technical services team to develop and implement mining plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present regular operational reports, including performance metrics and improvement strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in underground mining operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Technical Expertise: Proven experience in cut-and-fill mining, cemented rockfill, and long hole stoping methods.
• Language Skills: Fluency in French or Arabic is required; proficiency in both is highly desirable.
• Education: A degree in Mining Engineering or a related field is preferred.
• Leadership: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
• Adaptability: Previous expatriate experience and a demonstrated ability to adapt to new cultural and working environments are advantageous.
